Santa Caterina Lake is in a natural context on the slopes of the Dolomite mountains and will be the setting for an event with a high technical standard. Alongside the natural race course, which will be the heart of the event, the entire town will dress up for a glorious and unforgettable celebration of sport and culture. Auronzo di Cadore successfully hosted the Junior and Under 23 Canoe Sprint European Championships in 2018 and has been the venue of the International Canoe Sprint Competition for over forty years, gaining internationally recognised organisation skills. It is a source of great pride for our Administration and for the entire community of Auronzo to be able to host the Junior and Under 23 Sprint Canoe World Championships scheduled from 5th to 9th July 2023 in our splendid lake of Santa Caterina. This event will represent an extraordinary opening for next year’s summer season, bringing to the foot of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, symbol par excellence of the Dolomites UNESCO heritage, all the colours of the different nations who will compete in this great challenge: a spectacular melting pot of languages, cultures, traditions and stories united by a great passion for sport in the setting of a unique natural environment. In addition to being a great result, this event also represents for us and for the whole Community a new stimulus to do our best to consolidate this partnership which allows us to make the extraordinary beauties of our territory known to the whole world.
