    HUNGARY AND ITALY DOMINATE THE PROVISIONAL MEDALS TABLE. A FULL SUNNY DAY MADE THE SCENARIO OF LAKE SANTA CATERINA EVEN MORE SUGGESTIVE.

    ICF Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint World Championships goes on in Auronzo di Cadore (ITA). Friday 7 July saw the first finals for the medals held in the morning. The top role is played by the Hungarian national team, which has already brought home 6 golds, 4 silvers and 3 bronzes, for a total of 13 medals, and leads the medal table.

    Italy follows with 4 golds, 1 silver and 1 bronze, second place in the provisional medal table.

    Gold medals also for Bulgaria, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Germany and Spain in an intense day of finals. Hungary takes all in K4, winning junior men’s and women’s K4 500, and the men’s and women’s K4 500 U23. Agnes Kiss and Csepke Molnar successfully defended their C2 500 junior women’s title.

    Kazakh Mariya Brovkova has already been identified as a future star, and on Friday she furthered her rankings by defending her C1 junior title over the 1000m. Brovkova has already won senior world cup gold and won on Friday by more than seven seconds.

    Sara Del Gratta arrived in Auronzo as 2022 K1 500 junior champion, and added the K1 200m junior title to her collection. Sara keeps the lead from start to finish, finishing with a time of 40.50 in front of the Latvian silver Krista Berzina (40.53) and the British bronze of Kristina Armstrong (40.87).

    The second world title for Italy comes with Samuele Veglianti in the C1 1000 junior. Then the Hungarian Istvan Juhasz, silver in 4.00.49, while the German Florin Bange is in third place (4.01.88).

    Federico Zanutta and Fabiano Palliola also climbed the top step of the podium in the K2 1000 junior, prevailing with a time of 3.15.21 ahead of the German pair formed by Philipp Quiel and Julian Schmiech (3.16.50), while the bronze goes to the Hungarians Marcell Gazdag and Zoltan Mircse (3.16.88).

    Gabriele Casadei takes the top step of the podium in the C1 1000 under 23, confirming himself at the top of the specialty. With a time of 3.47.66 he won beating the Uzbek Vladlen Denisov (3.49.14) by 1.48, while the bronze goes to the German David Bauschke (3.50.11).

    The K2 1000 under 23 goes to Germans Tobias Hammer and Jan Prager (3.12.63). Francesco Lanciotti and Giovanni Penato (Ita) are silver in 3.14.69, and the Bronze medal goes to the Hungarians Bence Vajda and Tamas Szabo with a time of 3.14.69.
